MICROBIOLOGY, MACRO IMPACT.
EMPOWERING YOUTH THROUGH MICROBIOLOGY EDUCATION
Micro2Macro is a student-led nonprofit reenvisioning microbiology education by making complex microbial concepts accessible and engaging for children.
We aim to cultivate environmental and medical microbiology literacy from an early age, striving to foster a new generation of scientists and adults informed on public health.
OUR MISSION
THE PROBLEM?
Despite the profound influence of microorganisms on human health and the environment, microbiology is rarely taught in primary and secondary schools, leaving students without a foundational understanding of microbial life and its significance (Barberán et al. 2016, Lloyd et al. 2022).
1. General public often associates microbes solely with disease, neglecting their beneficial roles in digestion, immunity, and environmental sustainability
2. Lack of microbiology literacy can lead to poor health choices (including improper antibiotic use and inadequate hygiene practices) increasing public health problems
WE ARE THE SOLUTION.

Azevedo et al. 2013 determined that education-based intervention strategies can effectively improve students' knowledge and practices regarding antibiotic use and disease prevention.
Timmis et al. 2022 found that educating children act as catalyst for microbiology education within their families and communities, promoting broader public awareness and health.
